Weight Loss Tea

While drinking weight loss tea may not allow you to drink away the pounds like many of them claim, some of them may aid in weight loss. Most of these teas are herbal, not an unusual choice of ingredients for a tasty cup of tea. However, depending on the herbs that they contain, different teas can produce different reactions that can help with weight loss. These are some of the popular ingredients you will find in weight loss tea:

• Acai Berry – Pegged as one of the newly discovered "super foods", the Acai Berry can be found in supplements, juice, and weight loss tea. The biggest benefit to consuming products that contain the berry are the nutrients that it contains.

• Green Tea – This ancient Japanese beverage is one of the few ingredients on the market claiming aid in weight loss that has truly been shown to be effective. Green tea will help you burn more calories. Drink three to five cups per day and you will burn an additional seventy calories! Green tea actually boosts your metabolism while it also inhibits fat absorption. Additionally, it can work as an appetite suppressant to help you cut down on calorie consumption.

• White Tea – While white tea is the least processed of all teas and is believed to have more cancer fighting potential, it has not been shown to be beneficial for weight loss. You will usually find it mixed with other ingredients in weight loss tea to get the desired effects.

• Black Tea – Black tea is derived from the same evergreen shrub as is the popular oolong tea. It is high in caffeine and works as a stimulant on the heart. It also works as a diuretic to cause the kidneys to produce more urine. It, too, is usually found in combination with other ingredients since its abilities as a weight loss tea are unproven.

• Garcinia Cambogia – This popular ingredient comes from the extract of a small fruit that can be found in India or some parts of Asia. It is used to enhance fat-burning and to suppress appetite. While animal studies have shown these claims to be true, there is no research on humans to conclude that it has the same effects for us.

• Gymnema Sylvestre – This ingredient is derived from a plant that is common in India and parts of Asia, often used as a treatment for Diabetes. It can also help to curb sweet cravings and helps prevent sugary or high-carb foods from being stored. It may be added to weight loss tea as an appetite suppressant but is most effective when taken before each meal.

• Chromium Polynicotinate - Another popular ingredient in a number of weight loss supplements, Gymnema Sylvestre is a mineral needed for the regulation of blood sugar and it has been shown to work as a diet aid to synthesize cholesterol, proteins and fats. While it is safe to take in small amounts, taking too much can have serious side effects such as renal failure or liver disfunction.

When choosing a weight loss tea, only consider those that disclose all of their ingredients and make sure you are familiar with each. Green tea is one of the only types of tea that is readily available without other added ingredients and is also effective. In addition, green tea has lots of healthy antioxidants to improve your immune system and help keep you healthy.

Weight loss tea should be considered a supplement to a diet and exercise program that is designed to help you lose weight slowly and nutritiously. Only those who are at a reasonable weight already should rely on any tea to help them get to a healthy weight!
